Bethel kicks off ‘Heaven Come’ conference in LA seeking ‘significant revival’

LOS ANGELES — Bethel Music began its third annual “Heaven Come” conference Thursday night in Los Angeles.

Thousands packed the Microsoft Theater with worship and seeking God.

Bethel Music co-founders and hosts for the conference, Brian and Jenn Johnson, welcomed guests, saying they hope each person “experiences the presence of God.”

Bethel Church Lead Senior Pastor Bill Johnson spoke the first night, with revival on his heart, reminding attendees the significance of the City of Angels’ revival movements — such as the Azuza Street Revival in the early 1900s and the late Rev. Billy Graham, who launched his global ministry at the Big Tent Revival almost 70 years ago.

“It’s a particular privilege to gather here,” Johnson said. “There are very few places in the world that have significant revival history like Los Angeles.”

Johnson said he loves corporate gatherings but his favorite thing is hearing that believers have compassion on others at work, on the streets, and in everyday life.

“This is the assignment of every believer. …we were created with an appetite to see the possibilities of life bow their knee at the name of Jesus. It’s in the DNA of every believer,” Johson said. “Remove the lies, remove the disappointment and you find out …we are alive for such a time as this.”

The Redding, Calif. pastor said he went to high school in L.A. and learned to drive there. The city, he said, holds a special place for him.

“Restore us a place of revival,” he said. “Restore us as a people of revival…I’m going to ask you to upgrade your yes to God.”

The “Heaven Come” conference, which ends Saturday night, features speakers Steven Furtick, Christine Caine, Robert Madu, Kris Vallotton, and Lindy Conant-Cofer.
